Tuning Questions

Once you purchase a custom map from us, you will need to flash your DME, this can only be done by using a software such as MHD License, and the adapter to connect to your car's DME.

Our very own in-house calibration engineer Dmitry is the mastermind behind maps. Dmitry has been developing engine maps since 2010, and the B58 cars using his tuning can always be found in Dragy world leaderboards.

We understand that you may have concerns regarding the potential risks associated with tuning your engine. We appreciate the opportunity to address these concerns and provide a clear understanding of the risks and benefits involved.

Engine tuning is a process that can provide significant improvements in your vehicle's performance, such as increased horsepower, torque, and fuel efficiency. However, it's essential to understand that no engine tuning service can guarantee 100% safety or risk-free results. When modifying a vehicle's engine, there are inherent risks, and it's crucial to be aware of these potential risks before proceeding.

By choosing to tune your engine, you are essentially accepting the "pay to play" nature of this service. While our team of professionals will do their utmost to minimize any risks and ensure the best possible outcome, there is always a possibility that unintended consequences may occur. These can include increased engine wear, reduced longevity, or even component failure in extreme cases.

It's important to weigh the potential benefits of engine tuning against these risks and make an informed decision based on your personal comfort level and vehicle usage. We are more than happy to discuss any concerns or questions you may have and provide guidance based on our expertise and experience.

Please remember that by choosing to proceed with engine tuning, you are accepting the inherent risks associated with this service and acknowledging that no engine tuning can be completely risk-free. We appreciate your understanding and look forward to working with you to achieve your desired vehicle performance goals while minimizing potential risks as much as possible.

If you have any further questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to contact us. We are here to help and provide you with the best possible service.

As soon as you make a purchase for one of our custom tuning maps, you will receive an email with a link to download your map, as well as step by step instructions on how to flash your DME.

The answer is simple - the initial map file which we send has been tried and tested on the B58 engine for the level of tuning it corresponds to, this map itself is on the same level as well known OTS solutions such as those offered by MHD. We go a mile further by offering to further tweak and calibrate this map based on how it performs on your particular car & engine with the fuel of your choice. Once you send us logs, we will send you back a fine-tuned map specifically for your engine's parameter's and fuel. This is not possible with OTS solutions.

We always ask that you purchase your own MHD adapter & flash/monitor license for MHD yourself. Our reasoning is that:

1) We do not want you to be dependant on us for making small changes to the map which MHD offers you to do yourself (burble duration and aggressiveness as an example)
2) By having your own adapter and flash license you can flash your car and change the options at any time and place which suits you rather than having to wait for us to make an appointment (and charge you!)
3) Ownership of an MHD adaptor and flasher license gives you the freedom to flash your car back to stock at anytime you wish
4) The MHD monitor license (or a JB4 unit with a bluetooth adaptor) lets you take logs of your engine regularly to keep an eye out on your engine's health and performance.

Ultimately - the biggest reason is your freedom to do as you wish with the car once the engine is flashed.

As capable as the ZF gearbox is in the cars with the B58 engine - we absolutely love the performance benefits xHP offers. Whether you are running stage 1 or stage 4 - we highly recommend purchasing and installing xHP gearbox software for your car for the ultimate results.

As responsible tuners, we want you to understand that by tuning your car, you are stepping away from the factory parameters which have been tried & tested by the manufacturer. While all of our custom tuning has been rigorously tried and tested, we recommend you do the following:

1) Ensure your vehicle has had regular manufacture recommended servicing including oil changes, filters, spark plugs, etc.
2) If you are planning to install stage 3 on your vehicle - we highly recommend you seek a garage which can perform a compression test on your cylinders, and check your pistons/cylinders for scoring/cracks using a borescope/endoscope BEFORE you upgrade your turbo & flash a stage 3 map. There is no point tuning your car to this extent if your stock components are damaged. It will save you a lot of money.
3) It is always a good idea to get an oil analysis to check the contents of the oil in your engine i.e metal shavings.

YES! Any manipulation of the vehicle's ECU/DME is permanently logged and will ALWAYS flag up during a high-cost claim. If your vehicle is still under manufacturer's warranty (or extended independent warranty) we urge you to carefully weigh up the risks associated with flashing your vehicle. Even if you flash your vehicle to stock - the sophisticated dealer software will be able to flag your car as tuned.

If you are running anything more powerful than a stage 1, we recommend the following:

1) Change your oil, oil filter, and air filter every 5,000 miles
2) Change your spark plugs every 25,000 miles (15,000 if you are using Ethanol often)
3) Change your coils every 50,000 miles
4) Change your injectors every 60,000 miles (30,000 if you are using Ethanol often)

As well as this - if you have an automatic gearbox, we recommend changing the differential, transfer case, and gearbox oil with ZF approved oil every 30,000 miles.

Ultimately, how you maintain your car is up to you, however if you wish to have trouble free motoring and avoid expensive repair bills, we strongly advise the service intervals stated above.

Turbo Questions

We have used Pure turbos on a lot of our vehicles, and we now they deliver amazing results, however other well know brands will work just as fine with our custom tuning maps.

Core deposit basically means that you send us your stock undamaged turbo in "part exchange" for your new hybrid Pure turbo. This helps keeps the costs down.

The choice is completely up to you - if you wish to keep your existing turbos this will allow you to revert your car back to stock which can be useful for example when selling, however keep in mind that without a core deposit the price of your new Pure turbo will be significantly higher. You can always of course sell your stock turbo.

Hybrid turbos use your stock turbo housing (albeit bored out), but the internals and other components are changed to produce more power. A cast turbo is a completely bespoke unit without the need for your core to be sent to us.

That is absolutely fine, we completely understand that this can be confusing, especially because some B58 engines require a 4 port turbo and some require a 2 port turbo. Simply get in touch with us and we will point you in the right direction.

Yes! We can offer an installation service for your new turbo. This usually takes 5-6 hours and we charge £650.

Good luck...

Yes, we highly recommend you change your engine oil. oil filter and air filter after changing your turbo.

When changing the turbo, your car will lose a lot of antifreeze, therefore you'll need to purchase a top up (along with distilled water) before you change your turbo.

Yes, the manifold gasket and O rings would have been worn out by the heat and stresses from previous use, therefore we highly recommend you change them while changing the turbo. The fitting kit can be purchased from us separately.

Miscelleanous

No, we do not offer the FEMTO unlocking service. If your vehicle's production date is after 06/2020 you WILL need to get it FEMTO unlocked before using any of our custom tuning maps.

**PLEASE NOTE: ALWAYS OBSERVE AND COMPLY WITH YOUR LOCAL TRAFFIC LAWS & REGULATIONS**

To take an engine log you will need a long stretch of an empty road and another person in the car with you.

Step 1: completely turn off your DSC, turn off air-con, and close windows/sunroof
Step 2: get your car up to 2,000-2,300 RPM in 3rd gear
Step 3: ask your passenger to press "start log" either on JB4 or in MHD
Step 4: go WOT (wide open throttle) to the end of the 3rd gear, and wait 2-3 seconds as it enters the 4th gear
Step 5: ask your passenger to finish the log.
Step 6: save the log.
